Richard Moon welcomed members to the evening.  We began by re-electing the committee.  Richard has decided to step down from the role of events secretary, responsible for organising demos and workshops etc, as combined with his roles as chair and secretary, and full time work, he doesn't have enough time to spend on it to do it satisfactorily.  Members were asked to volunteer to join the committee as events secretary, and Roz Roden volunteered.  The committee was duly re-elected, with Roz joining as events secretary.

Richard gave the secretary's report, reviewing the events of the year including the various workshops and demos.  Numbers had been down for these, which to some extent is a continuation of the downturn in attendances due to covid, as members may have got out of the habit of attending as they once did.  However, the demos had been interesting and engaging.  We have had an increase in membership, with several new members joining via the CASA website.  In terms of next year, Richard suggested we might need to consider whether we scale down our events to make them more financially viable, or whether there was anything else we could be doing to increase attendances.

Carole Moon then gave the treasurer's report, which highlighted a decline in funds over the year.  However, by far the main contributor to this was the demos and workshops, and that aside, the society is holding its own financially.  If we do reduce our events next year, that should make things much more stable overall.

There was then an open discussion with the attendees about ideas for next year.  The general view was that we should do fewer events, and that it might be helpful for some of them to be done during the day, such as on a Monday morning, as several members don't like to drive when it is dark in the evenings.  Suggestions were made about linking up with other art clubs to see if we could share events.  It was felt that although the village hall as a venue this year had worked, members preferred to use the Cedar Centre.
